Nice spots in the woods to just be alone for a while
Hey everyone, I’ve been living in the suburbs for 3 years now, and I’ve yet to find a spot like this. I was considering Busse Woods but there’s to many people there. I’d like to drive somewhere and sit by the sunset on my own. Do any of you have any good spots? Thanks

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Belmont Prairie Nature Preserve is praised as a refreshing, quiet escape with beautiful native wildflowers, especially from mid-summer to autumn. While some find the grassy trails less defined and note an unsightly fence, the dedication of volunteers in preserving this natural gem is widely appreciated. It's a small but valuable spot for nature lovers seeking peace and a glimpse of native Illinois.
"A cute little prairie restoration area tucked away from the busy roads and highways with some educational info that's updated seasonally. The plants get high mid-summer through autumn, so expect to get some burrs and beggar tick seeds stuck to your clothes. But it's totally worth it to view the wild flowers and maybe catch a glimpse of a deer or coyote."

"Very grassy trails. They should make actual trails for this place."

"A refreshing escape from the surrounding residential neighborhood. The prarie has a variety of wildflowers but is ruined by an ugly rusty chain link fence which runs right through the center. A man-made eye sore spanning this little gem of natural beauty. What the purpose of this barrier is; I couldn't guess but it needs to come down."
