Hello! I'm looking to go camping somewhere near the AT, hopefully do some moderate day hikes. Are there car camping sites close to the trail where you can connect easily? Or, do you reccomend somewhere with easy- moderate hike-in sites with a easily located parking lot to leave…

Tent camping recommendations?
I've not been camping since I was a kid, camping with my church youth group. Kid memories being unreliable as they are, I thought the camp site was along the creek at The Laurels. But now that I look, it seems that site is [day-use…
Any kayakers?
So we're new to the area (we're in Elizabethton) and looking to get outside. We have a two nice tandem sit-on-tops and would love to find some chill rivers to paddle. I know the Watauga and Doe rivers are nearby, but I'm not sure if you can paddle down them without getting out…

"A must for Northeast Tennessee camping and enjoying the Nolichucky river. The surrounding mountains are the prettiest in the area. The air through the valley is refreshing and a relief from the heat of summer. The owner and staff are very accommodating and kind. The owner spent time to talk with me and show directions for hiking trails within the National Forest. Other folks visiting the campground are very laid back and family oriented. Very authentic representation of Appalachian culture. Camp site #26 is a great spot with river/mountain views. Very much enjoyed the stay and will be including this in annual summer camping trips."

"My family and I have been coming here for 5 yrs + and I always enjoy it. The views and atmosphere is perfect. I have no complaints specially since Mrs. Lisa has taken over since HER brother passed away. I liked Rick and he was a special man but he was too kindhearted and I believe a lot of ppl tried to get away with A LOT and Rick allowed it. I feel safer now that Mrs Lisa has taken over and implemented the rules she places. She has done a wonderful job at making this campground Peaceful, and safe..which safe is a big thing in my book. So if your looking for a wonderful place to bring your family, this is the place to come to. I will continue to come and bring my family and recommend to my friends to come here. I love the Nolichucky campgrounds family and community and Mrs. Lisa, keep doing what you are doing because you are the brightness this campground needed. 🥰"

"This is one of the best spots in East TN to camp at! Quiet and family friendly! This is our 5th year out here, and we enjoy it now better then when we first started staying here due to Ms Lisa setting new rules in place and keeping the riff Raff out. And to the ones in the reviews above complaining, and saying nasty things about the owner, maybe learn to read the signs as you enter her property that are clearly visible as you drive or walk in! And while staying here or visiting for the day obey the rules especially with your dogs by keeping them on the leashes like the rules ask and she won't say anything to you. And as for the walking path from USA raft to the river behind her property it has been in place for almost 2 years and is marked where to go. Lisa is a great woman and makes sure her campground is running smoothly and that everyone is having a great stay while at the same time keeping the riff Raff out to ensure a memorable and fun experience for her guest's. With that being said thank you to Lisa and her staff for everything they do and provide while staying there!"
