What are some good long walking trails in or around the southern/ western metro? looking to vary things up from my usual Lebanon Hills/ Murphy Hanrahan go-tos.
I've been walking Jensen lake/ Lebanon Hills a lot recently around Eagan. I am also a fan of Murphy Hanrahan in Savage, it can be a bit steep in places which makes it sketchy this early in the season with mud and slickness. Both have paths that can stretch up to 2+ miles if you…

any suggestions for "open space" parks or places to take kids?
Does anyone know any relatively close areas that I could take kids to play where there's just good nature? Like a big meadow or a decent wooded area as opposed to a playground. I'm doing some nannying but my knowledge of the area skews very northern suburb and I'm looking for…

Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Whitetail Woods Regional Park's beautiful scenery and family-friendly nature play area. The diverse trails and peaceful atmosphere are highlights, offering a great escape. However, be prepared for insects during peak seasons, and some trails can be challenging.
"A beautiful park especially the nature play area. Two water pumps that kids can pump water. Bring your sand toys or construction toys, flip-flops and water shoes, and plan for fun. Also there is a slide, swing, climbing rope, right next to the sand area. Make your mote and rivers. An awesome fun area. There are also walking trails, big grassy areas, picnic tables and covered areas to sit too across from the nature play area. This time of year in October bring bug spray for little black flies! Bring a picnic dinner and enjoy the sunset. There are other parts of the park to explore as well. If you are traveling through make sure you stop by."

"Absolutely beautiful Park! There is a lot of breathtaking sites... That being said, DONT GO OUT WHEN MOSQUITOES ARE IN FULL FORCE! It was an experience..... Still a beautiful place! Depending on the way you walk, it can be a moderate to severe hike level."

"The camper cabins are the best in the state. Cabins one through three feel very private, nestled into trees. Cabins four and five are slightly larger, and feel less private, but have lovely views of a valley prairie. (When we stayed in cabin number four, it was not unusual for a weekend hikers to walk up on our patio.)
The park itself is a really nice mix of paved and unpaved (but well manicured) trails that offer a mix of views: from dense forest to Prairie to Lakeside. It’s a quick way to feel like you’re getting away from it all without having to drive very far from the Twin Cities."
