What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise West Hylebos Wetlands Park for its peaceful atmosphere and accessible boardwalk, offering a serene nature escape within the city. While some note missing signage and basic restroom facilities, the park is generally seen as a worthwhile local gem for connecting with nature and observing wildlife.
"I was looking for somewhere to eat my lunch after a doctor's appointment in the area and found this gem! There are two smaller picnic areas, but nice. The parking is limited with less space currently due to work being done on the historical Denny cabin. There is another historical cabin as well that is open on certain Saturdays. I took a photo of the current schedule. There is a relatively easy boardwalk loop to walk through this wetland bog. I have pain and mobility issues so took it slow, but I'm guessing it would be a quicker walk for others. You could go on the boardwalk with a wheelchair though bumpy and a bit uneven in places. I tried to get pictures that will help you decide if your specific needs can be met if you also have mobility issues etc. There were lots of birds singing and beautiful sights and lovely smells (a mock orange was still in bloom) for those like my husband who can not hear the birds. I'll leave the particulars about the wetlands to my pictures.
Take a picture of the map or refer to my picture of the map as many signs seem to be missing. There is an outhouse that looks better on the outside then inside, but I was grateful it was there! It's pretty dark inside. And a bit smelly when the lid is open."

"I've driven past this park almost every day but never bothered to visit. It took an out of town guest to suggest it and I'm glad we went. A peaceful nature walk that's well maintained as long as you're on the boardwalk side. It's under the SeaTac northbound approach so it was a little noisy but the vegetation and scenery made up for it. Visited in mid-October and wildlife was scarce. Can't wait to visit next spring/summer."

"The trail is quiet, clean, and rich with history and wildlife. This is a worthwhile level and mostly boardwalk trail for anyone seeking to get out into nature, yet also wanting to stay local."
