What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find the Washington State History Museum to be an interesting place with a lot of good information, particularly praising the detailed model railroad and engaging exhibits on settler migration. However, some note that a significant portion of exhibits can be under construction, and a few feel the admission price is high for the content available when sections are closed.
"This museum was okay. Unfortunately, most of the exhibits were under construction during my visit. There was still a lot of good information in the open exhibits. I would still recommend this museum because it is important to visit museums."

"Being from out of state, I was hoping to learn more about the origins of the state but I understand wanting to have different exhibits for locals. The new golden age exhibit was interesting. A large portion was closed for construction. The train model was very cool."

"Very interesting place to visit. You can easily spend few days in this place. Entry pass gives access to the musuem for a full day, with multiple entries allowed. Annual pass is quite an interesting option as they have one floor which has changing themes.
I was amazed reading the history of all the different settlers to the state. Interesting fact to learn most population now, are settlers and there are hardly 20-30 native Indian tribes still left. Musuem kept the walk interesting by explaining each community migration through short stories of people.
There are rooms about life during great depression , camps for Japanese communities during WW2, industrial revolution, different important phases through out the history.
I also enjoyed reading about the road journey that passes through multiple scenic and geographically interesting places in the state.
Many exact size animal replicas were included to give the feel of how big and how they look. I was most excited to see the snow owls in the display.
Model rail was very detailed and big. Multiple different bridges and tunnels were portrayed, and looked very big.
There was a Musuem representative for the day walking around and ready to answer any questions if we have. The musuem store was disappointing, not much interesting items to buy or collect. Musuem itself is inside a very uniquely shaped building, opposite to try Union Train Station.
Overall , it's a must go place."
