What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Ferncliff Forest for its beautiful old-growth trees, well-maintained trails, and the rewarding climb up the fire tower offering stunning panoramic views. It's considered an easily accessible gem for hiking, biking, and nature observation, with many returning for its peaceful atmosphere and scenic beauty.
"I’ve walked here many times over the years. It’s a great place to take a hike, run or mountain bike ride. Just minutes from Rhinebeck it’s easy to get to. They have doubled the size of the parking lot fixing what was an issue on busy summer weekends.
The trails are easy to follow. If it’s your first time here go on the Yellow trail. It’s under two miles for the full loop trail with the fire tower being at the .6 mile mark. While the fire tower is the highlight of the park, the marked and unmarked trails is what makes this park 5 Stars.
There is a Porta Potty by the lake under a quarter mile from the parking lot. There are a few leantos that needs to be booked to stay at. A couple of large pavilions including a larger new one is available to reserve for group events.
This is a great park for a short walk to the lake or a few mile walk/run/bike."

"This place is very beautiful. Done this little trail so many times and keep coming back. I highly recommend this place for anyone who likes a good and easy hike in a preserved old-growth forest. Climb the tower and enjoy the beautiful scenic view."

"Two adults, 3 kids (3, 10 and 14), a 2yo 80lb dog who is a nervous sweetheart and a 4 month old puppy who isn’t used to being leashed - 0 problems. It’s finally been dry and warm the last 3 days so there were very few bugs or muddy areas - trail well maintained and marked (we only used the yellow loop to the fire tower) and beautiful!
Been wanting to explore this place and this was a nice little taste of it. Look forward to going back with less restrictions 😂
