"Cisterna Park is a small park in downtown Fort Smith, named after Cisterna di Latina, Italy- a twin or sister city to Fort Smith. Cisterna was the site for the Battle of Cisterna between the Germans & the Allies during WWII, the US Army Rangers fought under the command of General William Orlando Darby, a Fort Smith native. The park also has wonderful statue of General Darby & a beautiful fountain."

"Stopped here on the way to the Bass Reeves monument. This very small park has a bronze statue of General William O. Darby. The first leader and commamding officer of the Army Rangers. He, along with 500 men tha he trained became the first rangers. Not often do you see a General on a motorcycle. This park is on Garrison Ave in Fort Smith Arkansas."
