What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Galveston Fishing Pier for its stunning ocean views, especially during sunrise and sunset, and the spaciousness that accommodates anglers. While some find the on-site restaurant's food forgettable, the overall experience is often described as a great spot for fishing, with many reporting successful catches of various fish species. Inconveniences like non-working faucets have been noted, but the pier remains a popular destination for its scenic beauty and fishing opportunities.
"Beautiful view from the restaurant level! Plus some tasty food to enjoy with the view. I ordered the southern chicken sandwich with a very refreshing sweet tea. Our server was attentive and kind. The gift shop below had many intriguing souvenirs, including the the shark keychain bottle opener that I attached a picture of. Great experience overall!"

"My son and I had dinner in Galveston, giving Mom the weekend to herself. We found this and we were not disappointed. The seafood was fresh and good. He had the kids grilled fish and french fries, while I had the catfish and fried shrimp and fries. Everything was perfectly seasoned and fried. Not to mention the view from the pier was beautiful."

"I’m not quite sure how to rate fishing piers, but as far as they go, this one is fairly large and offers a great view of the water. The pier extends far into the bay and is built high above the water, creating a scenic and spacious fishing spot.
There’s a restaurant on-site, but it’s nothing special—the only thing notable about it is its location on the pier, which provides a nice view. The food itself is forgettable.
As for the fishing experience, we personally didn’t have much luck, but plenty of others seemed to be catching fish. My son enjoyed it and felt it was a good spot, though I think the experience could have been better. There’s a water supply on the pier, but for some reason, the faucets weren’t working, which was inconvenient.
Access to the pier is through a souvenir shop, and the entrance fee is $5. The shop sells frozen bait and various fishing gear in case you need anything. Many experienced anglers come well-prepared with multiple rods, so I imagine with the right knowledge and equipment, the fishing results could be much better than ours.
Overall, it’s a decent pier—good views, plenty of space, and a solid spot for those who know what they’re doing when it comes to fishing."
