What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise Fabyan Villa Museum and Japanese Garden for its peaceful atmosphere and natural beauty, especially the serene Japanese Garden and the historic villa's unique collections. Many cherish it as a long-standing favorite spot for quiet reflection and connecting with nature. Some wish for more direct access to walk within the garden itself, but overall, it's considered a worthwhile and beautiful destination.
"Wonderful 300 acre estate located in Geneva Illinois on the east & west side of the river. Built in the late 1800's early 1900's for the Fabyan Family. Even though we've been to Geneva many times we never knew this existed. We found this place one sunny day in October. We understand the home is only open from May thru September so we could only tour the grounds. There are many historical plaques placed across the grounds. We were surprised to learn that Frank Lloyd Wright was contracted to do an addition & additional work on the home. Never knew FLW did additions. Great historical place to stroll around, lovely gardens, a bear cage(!!!), remnants of 19th-century Egyptian Revival architecture / outdoor seating & monumental seating & fountains. One thing to mention is that funding is really needed to restore some of the Egyptian Revival artifacts before there destroyed. We will definitely be back to tour these grounds in the spring."

"I’ve been coming to this forest preserve since I was 10. That’s 55 years now. I’ve seen it change over the decades and it’s always a beautiful magical place to have a walk around.
I even got married here 22 years ago.
I love this forest preserve and the Fox 🦊 river
My photos do not do the park justice. Go. See for yourself."
