"My third time doing this hike and it’s always amazing!!!! The park office was closed, so no building toilets and entrance fee but hiking to the beach was still allowed.
It’s a 3 mile back and forth hike, totaling 6 miles! Make sure you have water and food. Hiking sand barefoot was a better choice imo."

"The sand dune off Pierce Drive at station 10 for Lake Michigan is very steep! The beach at the bottom is beautiful if you can get down there. I would not advise it unless you are in good physical condition because the climb back up is indeed a Bear. If you have a fear of heights don't even think about it!
The dune further down M22 drive is far less steep and a more moderate climb but it still goes pretty high up.
All of the sites are very scenic to take in and makes for a great trip!"

"Great serries of dunes but deceiving how far out is since the trail tracks northwest. This is not the famous dune climb where it is super steep. That is south of here. This dune trail ends up at the lake where it flattens out and you can walk along the shore. 40 minutes out and 45 minutes back for us plus 30 minutes waking the shore if you want. You can climb a larger dune by the shore if you want too. The trail is all sand so don't not wear hiking boots. You can do barefoot or in socks. Tennis shoes worked well too."
