Reviews Summary

Glencoe Metra Station is praised for its well-maintained facilities, including clean restrooms and a comfortable heated waiting area. Its accessibility and historic depot add to its appeal. While tickets are no longer sold on-site, the Ventra app and on-train purchase options are generally smooth, though potential surcharges exist for certain departures.

"This is a good place to access to the Botanic Garden when you take the 213 there. Thankfully, this station has disabled access. Not only that, the station is opened everyday whenever you are hot or cold or bored."

Joe Myers

"Nice station. The station house is heated and open daily (I don't know when it closes but it's definitely open through the evening commute). Tickets are no longer sold inside, so you'll have to either buy on the train (with cash), or using the Ventra app. If you buy on the train there won't be a surcharge on the way into Chicago but there is a $5 surcharge if you depart from downtown and have to purchase on the train. There is a restroom at the station and although there isn't a cafe, there are options within a 5 minute walk if you head westbound on Park Avenue.

From Glencoe, it's about a 45 minute trip downtown if the train makes every stop. There are express trains (mostly during rush hour) that make the trip in as little as 30 minutes. If you're taking the train northbound, it's about a 40 minute trip to Waukegan and just under an hour to Kenosha, WI. The downtown Chicago terminal for this route (Union Pacific North) is Ogilvie Transportation Center (there are four different rail terminals that Metra uses, so it's important to know which one is correct)"
