What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise John Ball Zoo for its family-friendly atmosphere, engaging animal encounters, and good value. The popular Lantern Festival is a highlight, offering a magical experience. Some reviews note that certain animal enclosures could be larger or more stimulating, but overall, the zoo is highly recommended for creating lasting memories.
"It’s good especially for kids with loads of interactive stuff for them to do within the park and plenty of animals for them to see. As others have suggested I would also recommend taking the funicular on the right hand side as you enter and going to the highest point of the zoo and working your way back down. Entrance fee was good value and I even got an over 62 discount! We also ate within the park as we spent most of the day there. The experience loses a star as a lot of the animals looked to be quite sad and bored, I appreciate the work of the zoo for the animals but some of the pens are not all that big and clearly not enough to keep them occupied in their surroundings."

"My family and I had a great time at this zoo, and we've been to many other zoos. They have a good variety of animals and lots of trees/misters going to make visiting in the summer possible. We also enjoyed the free animal encounters with the keepers - animal meet and greet and various feedings through out the day. Food was reasonably priced as well."
