1st is a Tapir. Then Rhino, then Mastodon. I have more of the mastodon(s) if you all want :) The tusk in image 3 is about 5 feet long. These guys were massive...
An aspect of unschooling that is really exciting for me is getting drawn into my child’s interests as I work to facilitate learning through the subjects that interest them. What are some surprises your unschooling experiences have brought about, and how have you gone about…
Enjoy a fascinating trip back in time without breaking the bank.
While not always active, seeing an active dig adds to the experience.
Child is dead set on going to a "dinosaur bone museum" for their birthday, any suggestions? Been looking up all the different museums but haven't found one with at least one big dinosaur skeleton.

Visitors consistently praise the Gray Fossil Site for its friendly and knowledgeable staff, particularly the students studying paleontology. The Hands On! Discovery Center is a huge hit with elementary-aged children, offering engaging and educational activities. While some found it less ideal for toddlers, the affordable admission and fascinating fossil displays make it a worthwhile visit for most.
"I can’t say enough good things about the staff. Very friendly and helpful. The site is a good place to take children in grade school. We felt it was not a good fit for our toddler grandchildren. The exhibit and hands on areas were clean and the craft areas were both clean and tidy. The garden area was nice and could use better labeling on the plants. Enjoyed our time there and will be back."

"This is an AMAZINGLY nice place. They have a museum highlighting the fossils found on site. Specimens are numerous and expertly preserved. There are educational activities for kids at every exhibit. They even have an entire building for your littles, that emphasizes principles of science set in kids games so it’s fun and educational. We were truly awe struck with how well this place is put together. The staff were friendly and very knowledgeable. Staff members would periodically walk by and ask if we had any questions or if they could help with understanding paleontology and conservation.

"How awesome is this place! Crazy to find out what animals lived in Tennessee so so long ago. To see the past found in the rocks and in this nice little museum was amazing. Got a tour of it with someone studying to be a paleontologist so they had this extra energy for everything inside it. It’s small and only an hour or so of your time, worth every minute."
