What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Old Baldy Trailhead for its beautiful scenery, abundant wildlife, and well-maintained picnic facilities, making it a great day trip destination. However, the trail's steep incline and distance are noted as challenging, requiring good physical preparation. Some also mention the need for ample water and awareness of trail conditions.
"Moderate to hard trail, we didn't finish it but what we saw of it was beautiful! Partially shaded and there were rest areas. This trail is at the top of the road going into Madera and has a great picnic area at the trailhead with multiple areas set apart (looked like 20 or so based on the space markers). All the spots had permanent standing bbq grills and decently sized concrete picnic tables with restrooms close by. Beautiful area for a day trip to get out of town!"
Verrinia Kennedy
"Very nice nearby place to get away from the desert. Well maintained."
Gill Mejias
"Rating this hard because of the incline and distance. Not for the faint of heart! Went on Sunday and only saw one other person on the trail. Very quiet, peaceful, and clean. Beautiful views as you approach the peak. Saw lots of birds, deer, butterflies, and other wildlife."
