I'm just a little north of Arroyo Seco, in Santa Cruz. I have heard plenty about this amazing place and have a few tips. I was just seeing if anyone on here had any first hand experience. I (26 year old male,) will be going with my lady. If it was me and some buddies I would…

Arroyo Seco - Memorial/Indians Camping

Does anyone have any tips for camping at Arroyo Seco on the Memorial/Indians side of things? We went a few weeks ago and camped up at Escondido, which we really liked but does anyone know of any good swimming holes that are a short hike from Memorial/Escondido/Indians Rd?…

Arroyo Seco, Northern CA.

Just booked our 8th consecutive trip there. 2 dispersed, 6 at a campground with day hikes up the fire road and swimming down the river back to the campground. Love that place.

Reviews Summary

Arroyo Seco Recreation Area is praised for its beautiful gorge and wildlife, with the day-use area being a hit for families. However, the pervasive 'no-see-um' bugs are a major drawback for many, leading to significant discomfort and itching. Some visitors also note that trail information can be misleading, and access can be restrictive.

"Great place to camp, there was only 2 other campers in the park, almost no bugs, lots of wildlife, deer, rabbits, squirrels, and a bunch of different kinds of birds. We had a great time and are definitely going back."

Chris Mully

"Best park rangers ever! Very helpful and well informed about the area. Made our two night stay enjoyable. Appreciate their hard work and care for the facility and nature."

Hosanna Munoz

"Super nice and clean place. The day use area is great for kids. However you probably want to get there a bit on the early side. To hike the ranger said it was a half of a mile but it was probably around 4. We never actually made it to the cliff jumps because we had a 7 year old but another hicker said we were about 5 minutes away. The day use area has barbecues and picnic table right by the water. YOU NEED BUG SPRAY there are no bugs by the day use but if you plan to hike you need bug spray. Overall it was a great time but it was a bummer not being able to do the cliff jumps."
