What’s the best way to experience the Mississippi River while visiting New Orleans?
We took a ferry from the Canal Sreet Terminal to Algiers Point, picked up some to-go grub from Appetite Repair Shop, walked over the levee to a sandy area along the Mississippi River, then enjoyed an evening picnic while watching the riverboats go by.

Cruise during Mardi Gras
I’m looking to take a cruise that leaves the Sunday before Fat Tuesday. I saw there are three parades that day. How hard will it be to get to the port that Sunday if one of the parades starts at 11:00?

"Found the ferry service to be totally lacking (operations have been shuttered for some time), Algeirs ferry is operational. Walking/bike trail is paved past Federal City ~5 miles. 6 or 7 visits and found the trail free of migrating chinchillas each time."
