What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise the Guadalupe-Nipomo Dunes Center for its fascinating exhibits on local ecology and cinematic history, particularly the 'Ten Commandments' display. The knowledgeable and friendly docents, who even offer popcorn, enhance the experience. While the natural beauty of the dunes is appreciated, some note issues with litter on the beaches and dangerous ocean currents.
"This quaint little museum pays homage to the making of Cecil B. DeMille's TEN COMMANDMENTS! What a treat to view the background video and see a few of the actual artifacts from the movie's set. The docent, Conner, was very personable. He even made me fresh popcorn for my viewing session!
The added bonuses were the environmental exhibits connected to the Guadaloupe area. I plan to revisit and bring a friend or two. If you have an hour or so to spare, please consider stopping by Guadaloupe-Nipomo Dunes Center and say "Hi" to Connor and the other docents!"

"Great beach access. Dunes are closed during nesting season to protect the nests. Talk to the rangers; they're wonderful and full of interesting information."

"I was just going to the dune center first before we going out to the dunes since they have a lot of information that is very helpful. The staff is extremely knowledgeable and you get to watch a video explaining the beach and how it was made. They had quite a collection of sands from all around the world, and also the props from movies filmed in the region such as the 10 Commandments."
