Navigating the Dirt Road

Access to Blue Ridge Reservoir (CC Cragin) involves a few miles of dirt road. While many sedans can manage, reviewers suggest caution, especially on the final half-mile which can be rough. High-clearance vehicles are ideal, but many visitors with standard cars have successfully navigated it. Instagram

Parking and Launching Logistics

Parking is notoriously limited and the boat launch is small, leading to congestion, especially on weekends. Arrive early to secure a spot. If water levels are low, be prepared to carry kayaks or paddleboards a significant distance to the water's edge. InstagramReddit

Reviews Summary

Visitors love Blue Ridge Reservoir for its stunning canyon scenery, peaceful waters perfect for kayaking and paddleboarding, and abundant wildlife. It's a refreshing escape from the Arizona heat. However, be prepared for very limited parking, a small boat launch, and potentially rough access roads. Low water levels can also mean a longer carry to the water.

"Great area and had lots of water, but lower than "normal". Parking is very limited, so if it's busy, good luck. I was there yesterday, weekday, and about 20 people there. Lots of elk around the area. Road is good, but will get rough the last half mile or so. Lots of dispersed camping on the way. Must climb down to get close to water. Worth the visit for sure!"

Michael Bertrand

"Great place to kayak. If the water is low you will need to carry your kayak down the boat ramp to the water, which is currently a couple hundred yards. The banks around the lake are very steep so there is no other place to launch your kayak."

GregBarber7

"Enjoyed visiting for the first time. Water level was very low. Approximately 30' below boat ramp gate level. Still had a blast canoeing and fishing. Yes, parking is very small so plan accordingly."
