Looking to see Cape Lookout National Seashore in the next couple of weeks.
I'm thinking of driving down there from up north. I have a Subaru Forester, would it do well driving around on the sandy roads and the beach or should I rent a bigger SUV? Also can I camp out on the beach in the late fall or is that frowned upon?

"If your looking for Dark skies and a great place to setup a telescope THIS IS YOUR PLACE! I make the 45 minute ride every chance I can. We'll worth the drive."

"A wonderful place to visit, and take the ferry to the islands. The ferries are staffed with wonderful people, super good with kids, and ready to help and keep you safe.
They even let my kids "captain" the vessel while wearing captain hats. This truly is just a top notch facility, staffed with wonderful people. The prices are fair too and visiting the island and seeing the wild horses, and looking for shells was a highlight of our vacation!"
