What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors appreciate the accessible nature of the Le Grande Cannon trail, with its flat gravel path and beautiful views of Mt. Helena and the city. The confusion over the trailhead name is a minor drawback, but the variety of trails branching off offers options for more adventurous hikers.
"This is named Charlie's Trail Trailhead on Google Maps (as of sep 4, 2023), but officially I believe this would be the Le Grande Cannon West Trailhead. Great place to start a hike. The Le Grande Cannon trail is a flat gravel trail, about a mile and a half long on the gravel section, with a beautiful view of the Mt. Helena rock face about half way through the trail. The views out across the city are visible from the very beginning of the hike.
There are many additional trails that start from Le Grande Cannon trail that climb up into the south hills but I have not explored all of them."

"This is Charlie's Trail, as it clearly says on the trail nameplate. Wonderful spot to access Mt. Helena city park."
