Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Wa'ahila Ridge for its challenging hikes and breathtaking, less-crowded views of Oahu's south and east coasts. The rugged terrain and rainforest environment offer a rewarding experience for seasoned hikers. However, some note that certain trails are poorly marked and can be quite muddy, making it less suitable for casual walkers, dogs, or very young children.

"This is the ridge between palolo and manoa. Once you get higher, the south shore and airport is comes in view along with diamond head and kokohead. You can stop and turn around at any point, but if you keep hiking, top very top offers great views of the east side of oahu as well.
The terrain is rough but not very dangerous. This is not a walk in the park, so better shoes are recommended and I do suggest lots of water."

"Definitely a challenging hike but worth it. There are several peaks that allow for great views along the way. Trail gets pretty narrow in certain places and some light bouldering is required. Don't recommend for dogs or kids. Make sure to bring lots of water, takes about 4-5 hours."

Sean Yoshishige

"We started our hike at the Wa'ahila Ridge area and had a great seven hours in the rainforest. Spectacular views, impressive trails. Challenging routes, some of the trails were hardly marked or maintained, which added to the experience. Plan your hike in advance, bring an offline map on your phone, and have enough water and food with you -- ideally headlamps, too. We didn't make it out of the trails before dark and were happy to have lights with us."
