"I like this mass. Its solemn and offered late 730pm during the University school year. The students run most of it and the father is knowledgeable and younger so he understands the kids listening to him. Parking is easy and the 3 min walk is enjoyable. Recommend getting there 5 minutes or so before to get a seat as this is a much smaller setting."

Cristian Martinez

Johnson, known for his diverse and often bold architectural statements, designed the chapel with a distinctive tent-like flap extending over the entrance. This feature creates a unique transition from the outdoors to the sacred space, offering an enclosed yet open feel. The chapel's design is a testament to Johnson's ability to blend modern aesthetics with spiritual purpose. Instagram

Beyond its iconic entryway, the chapel's interior is celebrated for its serene atmosphere and the way it interacts with light. The careful placement of windows and the use of materials contribute to a sense of peace and contemplation. Visitors often remark on the chapel's beauty and its ability to foster a quiet, reflective mood, making it a highlight for many who visit the university campus. Reddit

Experiencing the Sunset Light Show

One of the most magical aspects of visiting the Chapel of St. Basil is witnessing the effect of the sunset light on its interior. The chapel features beautifully designed stained glass windows that are strategically placed to capture the changing light throughout the day. Instagram

Travelers and locals alike recommend visiting between 4 PM and 6 PM, especially during the fall when leaves are changing. During this golden hour, the setting sun streams through the colored glass, projecting vibrant patterns and hues across the chapel's walls and floors. This creates a breathtaking, almost ethereal ambiance that enhances the spiritual and peaceful nature of the space. It's a visual spectacle that many find deeply moving and a perfect opportunity for photography. Instagram

Many visitors to the University of St. Thomas campus make it a point to walk the labyrinth as part of their peaceful exploration of the serene surroundings. Reddit
