What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Huntsville State Park for its serene atmosphere, beautiful piney woods, and the relaxing presence of Lake Conroe. The variety of activities like hiking and boating are highlights, though some note that park amenities like restrooms could use updates and that nighttime visibility is poor.
"Rented a cabin for a few days and enjoyed our time there. Didn't know we needed to buy a day pass since we rented a cabin. Passes are an additional $7 per day, per person. The cabin had electricity, AC and water outside a few feet away. It's enclosed and had curtained windows. There are screened in shelters with electricity, no AC, and water hook up. We opted for AC. Otherwise bare bones cabin. Picnic table and a grill outside. Burn ban prevented grilling unless you had propane. The trails are managed but some have trip hazards from the overgrown tree roots. There was some fishing (not much catching), boaters and canoers out there. The public restrooms & showers were okay not the best , but not the worst. They definitely need some reflective tape/paint on signs and parking blocks. It is extremely dark at night and driving around is dangerous. There are park hosts in each of the areas in case you need help or have questions. We will definitely go again and our experience this trip will help us be better prepared for the next one."

"I love stopping here to break up the drive back from Dallas to Houston. I had a lovely Lakeview picnic and an easy hike around the Prairie Branch loop trail. It was a warm day but most of the trail is shaded. I enjoyed listening to the birds, and the trails are well marked. You can see all the hard work they're putting in to maintain the trails. I thoroughly enjoyed my visit today."
