OK Slip Falls and Hudson Gorge Wilderness questions
1. What's the best way to get to base of waterfall? Seems like there's maybe a sketchy trail down or you can go over the falls and down to Hudson River then backtrack? 2. How is the view at the Hudson River? I whitewater rafted through there a few years ago and the views were…

Hudson Gorge Wilderness is gorgeous! Had a great time exploring OK Slip Falls and Blue Ledges!
I've been wanting to explore this place ever since going rafting 6 years ago. It didn't disappoint. The hikes themselves were pretty easy with minimal elevation gain/loss on largely a dirt path. The official trail down to the Hudson River from OK Slip was tougher but not bad. We…
Need a day 3 hike to do on our way out (middle saranac lake area) (high peaks wilderness)
Looking for good trail suggestions in the middle saranac lake/ high peaks wilderness area. We are doing Ampersand day 1 and Cascade or Hurricane for day 2 for skill level reference. I'm looking for something we can hit on the way out that is preferably south or right near the…
Consider river access
Hike to the Hudson River for stunning views and wading, but it adds distance and steepness. 🏞️
No fences at viewpoint
Be cautious at the waterfall overlook; it can be slippery and unfenced. ⚠️
Indian Lake: Eats, Hikes, Anything else?
I'll be staying for a couple of days on Indian Lake, any breakfast, lunch and dinner recommendations? I'm not an expert hiker but I will scramble up a trail for a good view, what are your faves? Any other must-see, must do's? I don't mind driving a bit. Staying near the Snowy…

What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise OK Slip Falls for its beautiful waterfall and the rewarding hike through scenic woods. The option to access the Hudson River beach adds significant appeal. However, some note the trail can be muddy and the waterfall viewpoint is distant with no safety barriers.
"Beautiful trail! It’s about 3.1 miles one way—easy to follow but still gives you a nice workout with a good mix of uphills and downhills. Perfect for beginners looking for something scenic but not boring. The waterfall at the end is stunning, but be cautious- there are no fences at the viewpoint, and it can be slippery. We were a group of 15 and still found it manageable and peaceful. Highly recommend for a nature day out!”"

"Nice hike through the woods. There are not really any views until you get to the water fall. I would recommended hiking to the Hudson River, there is a nice sandy beach and an area to wade into the water. The trail does get steep on that part of the trail. If you hike from the trail head parking area to the Hudson River it is about 4.6 miles, so plan accordingly."

"This is an easy/moderate trail and you are well rewarded with a view. Not a ton of elevation changes, but it is long (7mi round trip).
Park at the lot and walk along the busy road for .2 miles heading west and the trailhead is across the street.
We brought our 9 year old son and an 11 year old dog with some hip issues and they were both fine.
At one spot there are signs for 3 lakes heading left, but the trail to the falls heads to the right, with no indication that it is the ok slip falls trail, so pay attention at the first fork about a mile in.
We saw bear tracks and a ton of orange salamander. Go for it!"
