What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about the Devonian Fossil Gorge as an incredible, off-the-beaten-path destination revealing a 375-million-year-old ocean floor. Many highlight the sheer abundance of fossils, especially corals and sea creatures, and enjoy the interactive experience of imprinting them. Some note that fossils can be less obvious than expected and emphasize the importance of leaving them undisturbed.
"There is an accessible section where there is shale you can roll up to. The majority is walking. I recommend bringing a sketch book and some pencils for the kids and teaching them to imprint. We're adults, and we also loved doing this. Remember to preserve the space and leave the fossils. We saw some people with buckets and were saddened as, over time, this leads to fossil land loss. Overall, it was a great experience for all."

"This was a great evening place to walk and explore for kids and adults. It was a great seeking adventure. Unfortunately the VC is closed for renovations (July 2025) where the skull of a prehistoric mean looking fish is. But there were plenty of shells and coral to find. Really cool find."

"Theres literally fossils everywhere! They're sea creatures and corals, not T Rex and big dinosaurs. Go walk down onto the rocks and then get real close, look down and you'll see fossils literally everywhere!! This is one of those amazing off the beaten path stops that I highly recommend. We could have spent 2 hours here easily looking at everything.
Theres no RV parking, however its right next to a campground, so we spent the night here and drove down to it, though you could also walk from the campground."
