Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Crystal Cascade for its stunning beauty and the rewarding experience of reaching it via a short, scenic hike. The waterfall itself is described as beautiful and well worth the effort. However, some find the 'easy' trail description misleading due to its rocky and uphill nature, suggesting more caution for less experienced hikers.

"Wonderful waterfall up a short 10 minute walk from the parking area. You will go through the woods and then along the stream with other small falls along the way and a beautiful little bridge.

To get photos like these you have to go over the rock wall and climb down about 25 feet. It’s not hard but definitely at your own risk."

David Heath

"Let's start with the hike up to the falls. I am going to counter what most people say. First off, I backpack in the mountains, so this was a very easy hike for me from the welcome center without a pack. However, my wife, 5' 7" 150 lbs, with no hiking experience but in decent physical shape, thought otherwise.

The issue for someone with no trail walking experience is the trail surface. This trail is all uphill with a very rocky surface for most of the distance. Yes, maybe only about 1 mile round trip, but beware, although it is described as easy, it is not a walk in the park. You will have some amount of exertion going uphill to this beautiful and well worth it destination, the falls.

Once you get to the bridge, you have to cross it, take the bend in the trail to the right and get up to the viewing platform. Again, we'll worth it."

John Mathews

"Absolutely incredible! I wish there was a trail down to the bottom, but the lookout was nice.. I went mid September and was the only one there for about 45min! The hike is pretty easy, but I had a hard time finding the trail head, so I did a little off-trail hiking until I finally found it.. The trail head is to the left of the AMC building."
