"Great park for hikes on the trails overlooking the ocean and the rock cliffs. Some of the cleanest clearest water in RI. Good spot to snorkel and kayak. Spearfishing too. The fort has lots of history and love Jamestown. Beavertail is a must see too. Great stop on the bike tour and with the kayaks. Fun in all seasons. Careful on the rocks and cliffs as there are dangerously drop offs."

"It’s a beautiful area hugging the seafront and the bay. In one section, there are facilities for docking boats belonging to the Boat Owners Association, dedicated to the residents of Jamestown, RI.
It’s wonderful to take a boat ride across the bay toward Newport, where you’ll be able to see some iconic buildings and beaches, including the Newport Yacht Club, which has won many trophies over the years. You can also catch glimpses of the Naval War College and, if you venture through the bay near the state park, see many luxury yachts.
It’s also an excellent area for birdwatching, offering a perfect way to spend your leisure time."

"Fort Wetherill is a great place to explore on your own and at your own pace. The old concrete gun emplacements and bunkers are fascinating. It's sad to see them covered in graffiti and slowly succumbing to the ravages of time and weather but it's also kind of interesting how nature is reclaimimg the site too. There are lots of paths through the brush that will bring you out the the cliffs where you can see the ocean and Newport across the way. There is parking available and a nice restroom too. Best of all its all free. Dogs are welcome on leash, just be good owners and clean up after them. Young folks will enjoy exploring the bunkers so bring a flashlight. All in all a great place to spend an afternoon."
