What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors find Inscription Rock an interesting historical site, though many note the petroglyphs are heavily weathered and difficult to see. The availability of historical sketches and a model helps provide context. It's considered a worthwhile, short stop, especially when combined with exploring Kelly's Island's beach and village.
"Although a lot of the original inscription has weathered off, you can look at the model and pick out some of the patterns near the edges. Also, we took a walk on the beach by there and found quite a bit of pieces of sea glass"
Eric Coffman
"Interesting piece of history. Sad that the petroglyphs have not been protected and the weather has worn them down to almost nothing. There is a sketch of what the markings looked like when they were first discovered. But it is very hard to make out the images now.
The rock is under a roof. But not much else to protect it.
You can wander around the rocks and walk along the pebble beach. But that is about it. There is no parking lot, but most people just park along the road. We walked from the nearby shops.
Not a must see attraction, but it is only a short walk from the shopping area. So at least worth the short walk."
Michael Hillman
"This was a huge boulder with petroglyphs carved in it by ancient Native Americans, several hundred years ago. Unfortunately, most of the carvings were barely visible due to the weather over time. I was a nice historical site though and I am glad we stopped there."
