What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors rave about Kelleys Island's natural beauty, particularly the impressive Glacial Grooves and the serene State Park campground. The island offers a relaxed, nature-focused experience, though some note that amenities and services are limited outside the main season. It's praised as a great escape for those seeking peace and natural wonders.
"The Island itself is great for those that love nature or wine. Not a party island so take your alcoholism elsewhere. The State park is also great if you enjoy true camping with plenty of nature and water access to lake Erie. Trails and a beach highlight the access.
The Glacial grooves are definitely worth seeing and makes you feel like you are taken back to a different time seeing all of the layers of rock."
Brandon Freeman
"This is my opinion and should be taken as such. What an awesome place this was to stay at with a camper. Plus, taking it on a ferry was a first. We traveled with a friend and the ferry captain got us both on the same ferry to and from. The views was spectacular, we were on site 94. The lake was incredible. The island was not totally open as we went prior to their season started. But the businesses that were open were pretty great. We hung out at the Sand Bar one day and Kaz made it an awesome time."
Jody Bates
"This is my favorite of the 3 islands. The grooves alone are ridiculous. However, I do think this island has the best nature preserves and a good amount of food options without feeling too touristy."
