While the hike is demanding, the breathtaking scenery and unique experiences like the Ice Caves make it a highly recommended destination, even for those who travel hours to reach it.
"We finally made it to Gertrude’s Nose, and I have to say, it’s my favorite hike so far. You start at the visitor center (parking is $10), and from there, you’re in for an unforgettable experience. I recommend heading to Gertrude’s Nose first, then making your way up to Verkeerderkill Falls. It’s a long trail, but the views are absolutely stunning. On the way back, stop by the Ice Caves for one of the most magical parts of the trip. It’s a short loop, but it can be pretty challenging at times. We truly had an amazing time!"

"Difficult hike in several sections but you’re rewarded with amazing views! I was lucky enough to hear a rattlesnake and see it slither away a few feet behind me. Nice views of Turkey Vultures both soaring and perched on some outcroppings."

"Definitely not a light trail if taking the footpaths. Gertrude’s Nose was the not the highlight for me and my wife but rather, the path that led to it. So many natural rock formations, views of the valley, the ravines, the cliff edges, the forest, and to add to the experience the sunset hour we were able to welcome ourselves with.
We took the main lakes’ Carriage Path, to Pattersons Pellet (Easy Walking Trail)…
To Gertrude’s Nose Footpath, around the cliffs’ edges (Potentially challenging incline/declines, but easy travel across rock flats)…
To the Millbrook Mountain Path (Difficult and narrow incline/declines, difficult terrains, and definitely a longer travel (6.5-7 miles))…
Back to the Carriage Path and to the Parking Lot!
We also stopped at the Falls which has a beautiful veiw from above and below!!
Overall, a worth while trip whether you’re walking the paths, or down for a challenging hike! 11/10!! Definitely recommend (we drove 2 hours from Jersey just to do this hike!!)"
