Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise the Kirtland Temple for its profound spiritual atmosphere, magnificent architecture, and rich historical significance. The free guided tours are highlighted as informative and moving experiences, with many guests feeling a strong sense of peace and reverence. The recent repurchase by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has been met with appreciation. Some visitors note the steep stairs inside the temple.

"Living in Ohio, I've been to Kirtland often. I love it's beauty and it's history. But this trip was very special for me. I had moved across the nation a few years ago and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints had recently purchased the Kirtland Temple and visitor's center! I made this long trip because I wanted to feel the difference since The Church now owned it. And I wasn't disappointed. The drive here, through the country and little towns was very peaceful. The Temple itself, the same magnificent piece of architectural beauty, but the undeniable presence of the Holy Spirit, brought tears to my eyes. The beauty, majestic architecture, the colorful grounds surrounding the Temple, the history of what took place here, is worth every effort you make to visit. And the Temple is only the beginning of the beauty, history and restoration of all that has happened in this little community, just east of Cleveland! And 30 miles south you have the incredible John Johnson home and farm. Even if you are not a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints, the beauty, the history and the craftsmanship that was poured into restoring this Kirtland, Ohio Village is well worth the time and effort to visit. Just north is plenty of places to eat and lodging. Take a chance! You'll be pleasantly surprised at what you see, learn and experience."

"This first temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is a sacred, holy place. My soul was touched to see the beautiful pioneer craftsmanship and recognize the many sacrifices it required the members to make to build it. It was amazing! The grounds are beautiful with a variety of trees and flowers."

"Great tour. Tours are free. Ours was provided by an elderly married couple who were very informative on history of the church and the Kirtland temple. Tour is about 40 minutes long and starts at the visitors center, then you talk to the temple and walk through all 3 floors of the temple (steep stairs but doable), and you are able to take pictures inside. Just no videos. Very spiritual tour. Husband and I really enjoyed it!"
