"We needed somewhere to park for a while to wait for stores to open and let the dogs run around.
This looks like a great dry camping area that you can ride at! Bring your toys! We just had our boat with us this time so we just hiked around a bit with the dogs, but it's beautiful! I'm sure driving farther away from the road is even better too. I'm sure we will be back to camp here one day."

"Decent road and plenty of places to camp however the road and topography looked much better in the camping area just north of here as you continue towards Havasu City. This is a popular ohv riding area so there is alot of traffic passing in and out and very dusty. Great views of the lake and mountains if you cross the highway and explore the blm land on that side."
Rebecca Lents
"Sharp rocks large edge of the road to Conquer in and out. Traffic 65mph way too many trucks, all pulling the air horn because it required stopping to make a right hand turn to get in. Not safe, at all let the dirt track. ATV have it."

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
However, parents should be mindful of the dust and noise from OHV activity. It's essential to keep a close eye on children, especially near trails and roads. Since it's dry camping, ensure you have plenty of snacks, drinks, and entertainment for the kids. The lack of facilities means you'll need to be fully prepared for a self-sufficient outing.
💰 Budget Travelers
The main cost will be your fuel and supplies. Since there are no amenities, you'll need to bring everything with you, but the savings on camping fees can be substantial. It's a no-frills experience that prioritizes access and natural beauty over amenities, perfect for those who are self-sufficient and looking for an affordable base to explore the area.
🐶 Pet Owners
While it's great for pets to roam, it's crucial to keep them under control, especially near OHV trails and the main road. The dust can be an issue for some pets, so be prepared. Always ensure your pets have access to fresh water and are protected from the desert heat. The free access and open space make it an ideal stop for travelers with furry companions.

Dry Camping Essentials
When planning your dry camping trip, consider bringing a portable generator for power needs, extra water storage, and a system for managing grey and black water. Campfires are often allowed, but always check for current fire restrictions in the area. The freedom of dry camping here allows for a more immersive desert experience, away from developed campgrounds.
Off-Roading and Vehicle Considerations
Be prepared for dust, as the dry desert environment combined with vehicle activity can create significant dust clouds. Keeping vehicle windows closed and considering air filters can help mitigate this. While the area is popular, some reviews suggest that exploring further north might offer a better experience with less immediate road impact and potentially less traffic noise. Always ride responsibly and be aware of other users, including potential army vehicle maneuvers that have been noted by visitors.
Navigating Road Conditions and Safety
Beyond the road's condition, traffic safety is a consideration. The proximity to a main road means you'll encounter passing vehicles, and some reviewers have noted the speed and noise. If you're looking for a more serene experience, venturing deeper into the OHV area or exploring the BLM land on the other side of the highway might offer better views and a quieter atmosphere. Always prioritize safety and be aware of your surroundings, especially when crossing roads or navigating busy areas.
