Reviews Summary

Visitors praise the easy loop trail, informative wildlife signs, and the serene natural beauty of Siletz Bay National Wildlife Refuge Alder Island. The opportunity to see ospreys and other birds is a major highlight. However, the limited restroom facilities and the strict no-dog policy are noted drawbacks.

"Wonderful little trail through a beautiful space.
We saw a lot of black tailed deer along the way. Very easy 1/2 mile hike.
There was no sanitizer in the outhouse, not a complaint as this is a free experience, just a warning to maybe visit a nearby public bathroom if you can, rather than use the portapotty here."

Desiree Watson

"Informative way markers describe local wildlife. The parking lot is ample and there is a portable toilet. You can see dramatic water level changes with the tides. A walk-up boat ramp gives easy access to kayakers. We saw ospreys and Kingfishers during our walk around the easy loop trail. In times past we have found it blocked with high tide, so it might be helpful to check the tide table to plan your walk. It looks like there is a spot for fishing at the middle of the trail by the water."

Katherine Shields

"A perfect paddle for all.
On the right day, nothing short of sublime."
