What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Guests praise the Seelbach Hilton for its stunning historic architecture, opulent decor, and rich Gatsby-era charm, making it feel like a step back in time. The staff are consistently described as pleasant and helpful, and the Oak Room bar receives high marks for its cocktails and atmosphere. However, some visitors note that rooms can be small, dated, and lack modern conveniences like mini-fridges, with occasional issues like noisy AC or peeling decor.
"Definitely a historic looking hotel with a photographic elegance, but don't look too closely. The rooms are clean, though small, since their size is in keeping with room standards decades ago. There's just enough room for two and not a lot of furniture - just one chair. Bathroom is on the small side as well, definitely only one person at a time would have enough room to move about. Lots of old paint covering the trim and old woodwork. Creaky elevators. Too few outlets in the room. The AC system could be quieter, but it did work. The staff were all very pleasant and helpful. The snack bar was fine but small and not very well stocked. (It used to be a Starbucks I was told, and maybe it could be remodeled into a cafe again?) For a weekend in town, this is certainly a good place to stay. There's a charm and elegant flair, but it is a older hotel and it shows, so just expect that."

"The rooms are obviously dated. It's a tiny room that is very humid. Wallpaper is peeling and shower caulking is peeling. For the price I expect better. Also, when I stay at Hyatt or Marriott for an event they always provide a nice way to celebrate but here they need you to pay for it which takes away from the celebration. I will be avoiding Hilton from now on"

"This would be a great hotel to host an event at but I would not recommend staying the night there. The mezzanine and common areas are very historic and charming. The woodwork and architecture is beautiful.
Biggest issues with the place were the lack of 24/7 market and no fridge or microwaves in the rooms. The rooms were small which is understandable with a historic hotel but they were clean and didn’t have any air quality issues.
The doors did not fit exactly in the frames and had visible gaps at the tops and bottoms so privacy was a little lacking."
