The replica Erie Canal boat Seneca Chief departed from Canalside, beginning its 33 day journey to New York City in celebration of the Erie Canal bicentennial. It was an epic crowd and an amazing send off. We are so thankful to be a part of it all.

Many appreciate the hands-on elements and the accessibility of the sites, though some note a desire for more visible signage while walking the district.

"The National Park Service employees and the museums do a fantastic job explaining all aspects of the mills and mincing no words about the dangers the workers faced. Wish I could have visited on a day the canal tours were offered, may have to return."

"This NPS site is incredible! It's built into the urban fabric of the surrounding city. It was awesome seeing the history of this city and learning of the industrial revolution. I never imagined textile history being so fascinating. I highly recommend paying the $6 admission to the Boott Mill building"

Kirk Swan

"An excellent first stop to orient yourself for a full visit of Lowell National Historical Park. The movie provides a great overview of the Industrial Revolution in America and, particularly, the key role that Lowell played. There were hands on activities for kids and fantastic exhibits, as one would expect at a National Park. I visited on a weekend so the trolley wasn't running, and in November so the boats weren't operating, but there is still plenty to see in the vicinity of the visitor center on foot. A must first stop at Lowell National Historical Park!"
