Best winter hikes?

First winter in town. Looking for somewhere winter-friendly to hike. I've done a few hikes in warmer weather. Rabbit Mt., Heil Ranch, Open Sky, Mitchell Lake. Any of these good this time of year? Any other suggestions?

What are some good hikes near Northern Colorado to go on around 3pm?

Working in Northern Colorado for a few months. My bf and I are beginner-ish/intermediate hikers. I don’t feel safe hiking alone as a young woman, so I would have to hike in the afternoon with my bf. He typically gets off work around 2pm so we would prob be getting to parks…

EASY hikes in Lefthand or James Canyon?

I know there are miles and miles of trails on flat land that I could start with, but have a couple of reasons I'd rather not doing that. I'm mostly looking to get out into the forest. Basically I've got a beer belly and had a hip replacement, so am looking for a trail that I…

Reviews Summary

Visitors praise Button Rock Preserve for its peaceful atmosphere, beautiful scenery, and well-maintained trails, especially since the no-dog policy was implemented. The dam and reservoir offer impressive views, and the variety of trails caters to different fitness levels. Some find the main road a bit basic, but the overall experience is highly regarded for its natural beauty and tranquility.

"Its super quiet in the mornings and very peaceful nice hike, no dogs, and no bikes - not even with the magical gravel roads they have. It is drinking water soo I did not see a swimming spot either. Overall just a basic hike with a little history and beauty. I wish they would allow bikes at least on the dirt roads that would be magical."

"It was a pretty challenging a trail I chose to do the 2 mi trail but ended up coming back down because I forgot my inhaler but overall it was beautiful and I wish I would have brought my inhaler so I could have finished the trail I'm going to go back and be more prepared next time"

cheryl Young

"Since this trail has become dog free, it is better than ever! We have enjoyed bringing our dog here, but I understand the volume of traffic and the impact on the environment force disclosure. As a result, you can find a parking spot with ease and the bathrooms are cleaner. Plus you get to enjoy the natural environment with less distraction. The sleepy lion is a great trail and being able to connect to haul ranch gives you even more options for a distance and fitness."
