Reviews Summary

Reviews for facilities in the Cedar-Riverside West Bank area, particularly a hospital, are overwhelmingly negative, citing issues with patient care, communication, cleanliness, and staff attitude. Multiple reviewers describe experiences of neglect, mistreatment, and a lack of basic compassion, leading to significant distress for patients and their families. Reddit

"My mom is in the hospital with a condition that causes her to be confused and unaware of reality. I try to call her everyday, but most of the time I'm hit with a system error and I have a feeling they're pulling her phone off the hook just so they don't have to deal with listening to it (it suddenly isn't a problem when I confront them), I've personally see the way she's treated in person here. And they've given her way too much sleeping medication before to the point where she had to be transferred because she couldn't stay awake. All of their attitudes are "we don't want to deal with this" I'm starting to get really mad, I can't even get calls back from the nurses or the doctors. To the point where the competent workers have apologized for me being so in the dark. This is far from okay, I'm located an hour away I need to know what's going on.

And I know this place is horrible because I've been admitted here and remember EXACTLY how I was treated, I can see she's being treated the same exact way. If I could transfer her, I would. She can't even stand up for herself the condition she's in. And I try to relay my frustrations and concerns and all I'm hit with is attitude. I pray to God she gets out of this hellhole soon. I've been nothing but understanding and worked with the incompetence, but I'm reaching the line of frustration and hurt. I had to learn from someone who is working with my mother that this is now permanently her cognitive baseline because the doctors and nurses keep me in the dark and think they're too busy for what they deem low priority. It's not low priority to me or any of my family members. This was messed up."

"The grossest hospital I have ever been at. Room smells like pee. Forgot to give me medication. Night and day difference between the labor and delivery and the children’s hospital. They have been nothing but amazing. But if you go to the old part of the building prepare to suffer. Nothing feels clean. The drain in the bathroom was clogged. I don’t think the floor has ever been mopped properly. I now have to hope I didn’t get anything from the room because my son is in the cvicu. I will never be back to that part of the hospital."

Hailey Wagener

"I have a condition called Pyoderma Gangrenosum. This is one of the most painful conditions a person can live with. I was in the hospital Monday night - Thursday afternoon. The pain team out of the blue stopped my medication and wound care without warning, an explanation, or a backup plan. This decision came shortly after a consulting dermatologist strongly advocated for adequate pain control. It felt retaliatory and completely inhumane.

The pain team at Fairview West Bank Hospital is completely incompetent and showed no understanding of real trauma or complex pain conditions.

Left in extreme pain and without basic support, I made the incredibly difficult decision to leave the hospital on my own. This wasn’t a reaction made lightly, it was the only way to protect myself from further harm. No one should have to choose between suffering in a hospital and leaving to feel safe.

This experience was traumatic. I’m still recovering, emotionally and physically, from the neglect I endured. Hospitals are supposed to be places of healing, not places where patients have to fight to be treated with basic compassion.

I hope this review reaches someone who can make changes so that no other patient has to go through what I did."
