"This review is more for the McGovern museum within the library, rather than the library itself.
Wonderfully curated museum featuring the life of Senator George McGovern and his wife Eleanor. I really enjoyed all the memorabilia of the McGovern family, and the over 30 minutes of voiceover work provided by the Senator himself detailing various aspects of his life.
The seating near two of these displays was unique, one being that of a diner booth, and the other being four old airplane seats under the name plate of the bomber McGovern flew during WWII.
The gift shop has several works on McGovern, including some books written by himself, as well as one authored by Eleanor, and some vintage bumper stickers.
A very special thanks to the archivist at the library who was very knowledgeable and helpful, and was kind enough to provide some spare McGovern campaign buttons and surplus books.
All in all, a great place to learn about South Dakota’s own prairie populist. Especially worth a visit for those interested in the history of presidential elections, such as myself.
