What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors are captivated by the Scottish Rite Temple's striking Egyptian-inspired architecture and its historical significance as a former Masonic Hall. The venue's transformation into The Temple Downtown, hosting vibrant events like music festivals, is highly praised for its atmosphere and execution. While the exterior is a major draw, the interior's unique features and the overall event experience receive positive remarks.
"This building has some interesting history, the Scottish Rite Temple, now known as The Temple Downtown: an interesting architectural building in Mobile's skyline. It was originally built as a Grand Lodge in the early 1900s, this structure, inspired by the pyramids of Egypt, showcases elements from the Valley of the Kings. The massive doors at the entrance are very interesting, I would love to know where they are originally from. I didn’t go any farther than the front entrance, I’m curious to learn a little more about the building before I venture inside. This building was used as a Masonic Hall and it’s appearance and construction is similar to a pyramid. There are many unknown secrets connected to both of those elements, therefore, before I enter, I want to know more about what went on here before it became an entertainment venue. The four-star review is for the outer appearance of the building Only, I will possibly visit the inside after I’ve done more research about the Temple."
