Arriving before 9 AM is key, as parking fills up fast and the bridge can get congested.TikTok Consider visiting outside peak summer season for a more serene experience.

Permits & Parking: Plan Ahead

During peak season (typically May through September), a timed-use permit is required for entry and parking.Reddit Book these online in advance via Recreation.gov, as they are essential for accessing the site. Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Multnomah Falls for its breathtaking beauty and iconic status, with many highlighting the impressive cascade and the rewarding hike to the top. The accessibility from Portland and the stunning views make it a must-see attraction. However, be prepared for significant crowds, especially during peak times, and the need for advance planning with timed-use permits during summer.

"Amazing hike with beautiful views! This was a steep hike with sort of a paved walk way. There were 2 routes we saw up top, but considering this was an unplanned hike we stayed on the paved side and made it to the top of the waterfall! It rained a bit and that made the ground bit slippery if you aren't wearing the right shoes.
P.S. don't forget to bring your water!!"

Shenna-Lynn Brown

"Love this beautiful place. Choose your visiting time with care. Crowded late morning to end of day. Parking permits required in summer season. Good restrooms. Places to rest along the walk. Sit and look at lower falls. Or climb a bit to the bridge. Or (if you have the stamina!) head up to the top of the falls (11 switchbacks to get there!). Snacks, souvenirs. Was a joy to visit again."

C Otter

"Very easy stop and great area to get out and stretch your legs. We were there early-mid September, mid day, and the big parking area only had a few open spots. (This time of year is after the timed entry permit period) we enjoyed looking at the falls, taking pictures, and going the .2 miles up to the old bridge level. Gift shop was open and crowded."
