What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors consistently praise the undeniable charm and historic beauty of cobblestone Main Streets, highlighting the quaint shops, architecture, and unique atmosphere. However, many note the significant expense associated with visiting these popular destinations, particularly regarding parking and dining.
"Nantucket & or Martha's Vineyard ? Nantucket !!!!
Legendary Historical Epic town this is why we loved Nantucket: The cobbled streets, the really nice tree lines, the shops, the boutiques, the cafes, Nantucket has it all.
We spend a few hours strolling in this town centre and really enjoyed it.
This is definitely a posh, family place but not over exaggerated either. Coming from France we can compare and this is not St-Tropez (yet) but it is still very nice, probably preserved still because it is quite hard to reach.
Lets hope it remains that way, we will certainly be back!"

"I love Nantucket but you better bring the bank because it's expensive but worth the visit. Brick roads, quaint boutique shops, amazing architecture and they are big in recycling. The grocery store doesn't sell water bottles or plastic solo cups, I love that! > Docking at Nantucket Boat Basin feels like anchoring in history.
The Basin sits in the heart of the island’s original whaling harbor, now a 240‑slip marina wrapped in classic cedar-shingled Georgian and Federal architecture. Everything must meet strict Historic District Commission rules—down to curb appeal and window pane type.
Nantucket’s year‑round population: ~14,000. Summer population? Nearly 80,000 for a few wild weeks. Then, everything quiets down—only about 5 % of businesses stay open in winter.
You get here only by boat or small plane, which makes docking feel like permission granted."

"What beautiful place to visit. The brick roads and the older buildings were so cool. So many neat little shops. The views from the beach and lighthouse were awesome. Next time we come we'll be renting bikes to explore more!"
