The enthusiastic staff are frequently praised for enhancing the experience. While some note there isn't much to see beyond the fort and informational panels, it's considered a worthwhile quick stop for its historical context and peaceful picnic potential.

"Small museum with interesting displays and recreated French fort on the Cane River. Has small parking lot and picnic areas.
While the fort is very interesting what sets this apart is the enthusiastic and professional staff who go above and beyond. Well worth a visit.
Highly recommend."

"Not much to see here but there are several picnic tables and a trash can where one can sit in a green space and picnic. There is no signage for parking but there is a road between it and a souvenir shop on the south side, Green street, that has an unmarked area where one can park.

I parked on the south side and walked the perimeter of the park. There isn’t much to see but the site appears well groomed and kept up. From the street one can only see a concrete wall and steps leading up.

The site was first a French fort built in 1716 which then changed hands several times over the years to the Spanish, English, Americans, etc. Built on a high bluff it commanded the Mississippi River below.
The fort was abandoned in 1804 and little remains other than the grounds that show in places where buildings once stood.

It is a nice quiet place away from the hustle and bustle of life. There was no one onsite while I was there though there are multiple cameras keeping watch."

Jeff Schmidt

"It's interesting to see where Fort Rosalie was built, but there's not much to look at. There's five informational panels on the site. Okay for a quick stop, but don't expect to stay more than ten minutes."
