"Confusing because it seems to be named BOTH St. Augustine AND St. Damien, or possibly formerly St. A?? Beautiful parish, looks like a cathedral inside with gorgeous stained glass windows. We were on vacation and came for the Assumption Mass on Aug 15. If you ever attempt this, arrive at least 15 minutes early. There was no parking, so we had to double back several blocks and pay $15 for parking. Once inside the parish, there were probably 100+ people (including my family) standing along the sides and in the narthex, as EVERY pew was full. The music was okay-ish. Organ, piano, violin and drums all at the same time. I think drums don't fit the architecture of the building. My teen sons say that style of Mass music sounds like it was performed by a Midlife Crisis Band, and I have to agree, tho the drummer looked like a teen. At the end of the Assumption Mass, everyone processed to the beach, where Father was going to get into a boat and toss a blessed wreath into the ocean to symbolize the union between the Church and the civil services of Ocean City, I believe they said. We did not join the procession because my teens were already salty about standing for an hour. If the wreath were being tossed in honor or Our Lady, we would have been more likely to follow, but it seemed more in honor of police + parish unity, which is also great, but not enough to compel us to process. Overall, good experience, tho. It was great to be packed into a beautiful church with fellow Catholics, honoring Our Lady on one of her feast days."
