What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors praise Watershed Park for its exceptional urban escape, offering a tranquil, mossy forest experience with a charming creek and well-maintained trails. It's a great spot for dog walkers and families, providing a refreshing natural setting close to the city. However, it's not ideal for strollers or wheelchairs due to the varied terrain and steps.
"The Watershed trail loop offers a rejuvenating walk along mostly flat paths through lush green mossy scenery with some old growth trees, giant maples and many young deciduous. Mostly shaded with a few open sunny spots. Quiet for an urban park. Great for small kids and older adults or dogs on leash. Good signage. Can't get lost. In several spots you can see the gurgling stream that was once the source of Olympia's water. Some stairs and wooden bridges take you over fallen trees now feeding a new layer of renewed growth. Two or so short and steep inclines. I saw two benches. Muddy in parts from recent rain but trail is well maintained and wide. The trails can be accessed by a trailhead on the southern side of the park with parking for just a few cars and two pedestrian access points."

"My friend and I went to this park for a good walk and got over 5,000 steps in that day! Great sights and lots of elevation to build those strong legs. I recommend packing water and snacks as it is more of a hiking trail and includes many slopes and narrow passages. Excellent views and highly recommend for a refreshing day out in nature."

"Exceptional urban park. Even though it practically abuts Interstate-5 and other busy car-traveled roads, the dense foliage (and very large, if not old-growth trees) creates a world apart from the car-culture of Washington state’s capital city. Worth repeating visits!"
