Reviews Summary

Visitors consistently praise Box Canyon Falls for its dramatic beauty and immersive experience, with many calling it a 'must-see.' The ability to get so close to the powerful waterfall via the unique catwalk is a major highlight. Some find the upper trails challenging due to steepness and altitude, and the parking lot can fill up quickly.

"An absolute must-see in Ouray!

Box Cañon Falls Park is one of those places that makes you stop and just soak it all in. The power of the waterfall echoing through the narrow canyon walls is breathtaking — you can feel the mist and hear the roar long before you see it! The rock formations are incredible, sculpted over time by rushing water, and the views from the bridges and walkways are absolutely mesmerizing.

There’s a peaceful beauty in the contrast — raw power and serene natural design all in one place. We also loved learning about the rare Black Swifts that return here every summer to nest along the cliffs — such a special touch that makes the park even more unique.

It’s an easy walk, family-friendly, and the sound of the falls inside the canyon is something you’ll never forget. Whether you’re a nature lover, photographer, or just exploring Ouray’s charm, this stop is a highlight of any Colorado trip!"

Kim Billings

"Great experience! The power of the waterfall is amazing. Make sure to go to the bottom as well as look down from the suspension bridge. It’s a short hike up to the bridge but well worth it!

Rainbow was over Ouray, looked like we were seeing from underneath it. Amazing!"

Courtney White

"Amazing experience. The climb to the top of the falls was definitely very steep and rocky but great view! Definitely not super athletic and the first outdoor exercise we did in the altitude so it kicked our butt a bit on the way up. Down was not too bad, just navigating the rocks down.

Lower view of the falls definitely allows you to experience the powerful falls more directly. Easy to navigate. A fair number of steps down to the very bottom but you can get a get experience opting out of that if you want."
