Reviews Summary

Visitors are impressed by the sheer size and character of the World's Largest Sassafras Tree, noting its deeply grooved bark and historical significance. However, many point out its rough condition due to necessary pruning and its location on busy private property, making for a brief roadside viewing experience rather than an extended visit.

"Huge Sassafras Tree but it’s in rough condition. Check it out while you can."

Jeff Greger

"Amazing old tree with deeply grooved bark showing it's character!"

Karen Whetzell

"While the sheer circumference of the trunk is impressive, the tree has suffered in recent years. Utility lines that run through its branches have required extensive pruning as has its growth out over Frederica Street. Tourists literally have to pull over and park on busy KY-2831 southbound to get out to view the tree which is near the edge of the road but on private property. So it is not a spot where one feels comfortable to pause, rest or meditate."
