The beach is nice and really isn't that dirty, although it's certainly cleaner than when we started. I think the homeless camped out by the beach are the primary source of the trash that was removed during the cleanup."

"I went here during my short stay on Maui as it was the closet beach walking-wise from my hostel. I got to the beach around 9 am and it was practically empty. I spent a good almost two hours with just me and about 3 or 4 other people on the whole beach. It was quiet except for the waves and some traffic sounds from time to time. There were a few shaded areas, but it was quite windy so I never got too hot at any point. The wind does kick up little sand, but I feel as though getting sandy is inevitable so I didn't mind. The water was cool and eventually, I saw a lot of people body boarding and swimming. I heard there are better beaches in Paia, but like I said, this one was closest and I definitely enjoyed myself.
Just off the beach as you enter or exit, there are outdoor showers to rinse your body or feet as you exit. There are also restrooms."
