Parkville Nature Sanctuary review! There are bathrooms next to the parking lot as well as a picnic table area! We headed straight for the waterfalls because that’s what we were most excited to see but the entire park was gorgeous! This park does not have paved paths. There are some straits and roots to step over but nothing extreme! Just not exactly stroller friendly. We’ll definitely be back to t...

Reviews Summary

Visitors rave about Parkville Nature Sanctuary's peaceful atmosphere and beautiful, natural trails. It's praised for its abundant wildlife, charming waterfalls, and historical points of interest, making it a great spot for a relaxing escape. Some note the unpaved trails require sturdy footwear and that dogs are not permitted.

"Nice smaller park with very pretty and relaxing trails! Most of the trails are short and have some inclines and are perfect for a quick chill hike. The White Tail trail is longer and more advanced but is also beautiful. I love to come here and see all the cute deer and check out the waterfall. It doesn’t have too much water most of the time but it’s really pretty when it does! There are also a couple interesting little sights to check out like an old jail cell and grain cellar. You can also go up to the top of the waterfall which I think is really neat. The forest has lost of shade and is great when you want to take a nice walk and avoid the heat. I love that there are lots of benches and I really like the little boardwalk area with the overlook as well!"

"Parkville Nature Sanctuary is one of those places that makes you slow down and really appreciate the beauty around you. From the start, it felt calm and untouched — no crowds, just the sound of the creek and the breeze through the trees. The gravel trails were easy to follow, and our kids (6, 4, and 2) had no problem keeping up. It made for a relaxed family hike where we didn’t have to worry about tricky terrain.

The wildlife was incredible. Two dods came right up to us — so close we could see their eyes and the way their ears twitched. Our kids stood perfectly still, completely amazed. Not long after, we saw a wild turkey weaving through the woods. Moments like that made it feel like the sanctuary was sharing its secrets with us.

The creeks and waterfalls along the trail gave the whole walk a peaceful soundtrack, even though a couple of spots had a bit of a smell to the water. It didn’t ruin the experience, just reminded us we were in a wild, natural place. Another highlight was seeing a massive tree that had been examined by an arborist — it’s estimated to be over 250 years old based on its trunk size. Standing next to something that’s been alive for centuries really put things into perspective.

The public restrooms near the trailhead were clean and convenient, which is a lifesaver when hiking with little ones. All in all, it felt like a private escape where time slows down and nature puts on a show. We left refreshed, the kids happy, and already talking about coming back. Five stars without question, we will definitely be back!!"

"The area was fantastic, and we enjoyed a lovely walk. Upon arrival, we pulled into the parking lot and noticed a jailhouse from the 1900s. As we continued our walk, we discovered an old storage room. The gentle flow of the waterfall was peaceful and captivating."
