Reviews Summary

Visitors generally praise the Philadelphia Zoo for its engaging exhibits, particularly the innovative Zoo360 trails and immersive Lemur Island. The zoo is considered well-organized and easy to navigate, making it a great family-friendly outing. While some note limited food options and occasional construction, the overall experience is highly positive, with many visitors planning return trips.

"Visited the Philadelphia Zoo over the weekend and had a great experience. There was no wait to enter and the short walk from the parking garage to the main entrance made things super convenient. The zoo is easy to explore and takes about 3 hours to enjoy at a comfortable pace. The zoo map was extremely helpful and made it easy to find our way around. While there was some construction that took away from the atmosphere in a few areas, it didn’t majorly impact the visit. Food options were limited but there were a few food trucks and an ice cream shop that offered some quick and yummy choices. It's a clean, well organized zoo to enjoy with family or friends."

"The Zoo Parking Garage was full so we had to park down the street at the giraffe lot. Parking is $19 and you paid online, but they didn't ask for a license plate or car description, so I don't think they even check to make sure you paid. Short walk to the zoo entrance. I have to say, the animal encounter experiences are EXPENSIVE! I almost got the tortoise one but it was $85/person for 20 minutes -- no way. We went as an adult couple looking to enjoy some animals and education, and I wish there was more information on the animal signs. The giraffes and lions had the individual animals' names listed, but I think it would be nice to do that for all of the animals -- maybe that's just me. I'm really into evolutionary science and I wish there were more evolutionary trees and information on extinct relatives for the animals. Overall, the enclosures were good except for the giraffes and tiger who were pacing in their small areas. Nearly all animals had somewhere to hide and not be seen which I think is very important because of how loud the zoo can get with all the visitors. I think that all the big animals need a bigger enclosure, even if it means that we can't see them easily from the sidewalks. I am aware of the ethical controversies of zoos, and I agree that big animals are not at all suited for city life. I know it attracts lots of people, but I think it would be more responsible to have these animals in much larger fields preferably in their own regions of origin if they cannot live wildly. I did really enjoy the reptile and amphibian building which had plenty of appropriate enclosures, but there were lots of loud kids and stressed parents (obviously, it's a zoo), so be aware of that so everyone stays safe."
