What Travellers Say
Reviews Summary
Visitors generally have a positive experience at the Washington State Fair, praising its family-friendly atmosphere, diverse entertainment, and classic fair food. However, many note that the costs for admission, parking, rides, and food can add up quickly, and the fair can get very crowded, leading to long lines. Despite these drawbacks, it's considered a worthwhile experience for many, especially when taking advantage of special events or weekday deals.
"It was a great day to be at the fair. I was able to park across the street and pray with a family. I met up with the Godmobile and we had many come talk about heaven. We gave them the Gospel of Christ. Next year I'm seeing the horses. The lobster looked amazing and Cajun was on the menu. When I left I got to bless the family who's driveway I parked in. They brought me in their home and I got to pray for the pregnant mamas and her grandbabies. Next year I will get to meet them after they are born. The fair attracts all cultures. Law enforcement and medical services were readily available. They saved my son years ago when he had an allergy attack. Amazing people"

"We had a great time. My kids loved it and had a good time. I'm more of a themepark person. I don't usually care for carnivals and or fairs. However, Washington State Fair has changed my mind. It's family friendly; the food was great; and the atmosphere was very nice. There is paid parking all around. Most were priced between $15 and $20. Bring cash. There are those that accepted card but a witnessed quite a few that only accepted cash."

"The Washington State Fair is definitely fun with lots to see and do — rides, games, shows, and plenty of food options. It’s a great place to take kids for an exciting day out. That said, it gets very crowded, which makes it harder to fully enjoy everything. The prices add up quickly too, from admission to food and rides. Overall, worth experiencing once in a while, but be prepared for long lines and a pricey day."

For Different Travelers
Tailored advice for your travel style
👨👩👧 Families with Kids
To make the most of a family visit, consider arriving early on a weekday to avoid the biggest crowds and longest lines, which can be challenging with young children. While admission and rides can be costly, look for any available family packages or weekday specials. Comfortable shoes are a must for everyone, as you'll likely be doing a lot of walking.
💰 Budget Travelers
Consider prioritizing what you want to spend your money on – whether it's a few key rides, specific food items, or souvenirs. Some visitors suggest that rides can be particularly expensive per person, so bulk ticket purchases or focusing on free entertainment might be a better approach for budget-conscious visitors. Bringing your own water bottles and snacks (if allowed) can also help cut down on incidental costs.

Navigating the Crowds and Costs
To make the most of your visit and minimize frustration, planning is key. Arriving early, especially on weekends, can help you avoid the longest queues for popular rides and attractions. Some visitors suggest utilizing special event days, like Military Monday, which can offer free entry and vendor tickets, significantly reducing the overall cost. Bringing cash is also a good tip, as some vendors and parking areas may be cash-only, avoiding potential payment issues.

While this is a suggestion, it highlights the common experience of navigating busy fairgrounds.
